CAMP EXPLORERS will discover—
  • the Jefferson Patterson “trunk”, a treasure trove of early Native American artifacts.
  • whether money really did grow on trees (or plants). Find out how tobacco was used as currency and grown in Anne Arundel County.
  • what the Peggy Stewart was and who burned it.
  • the wealthiest man in Annapolis during its "Golden Age", William Paca. He’ll take us on a tour of his home and even introduce us to his cook!

Camp director: Georgia Ladd
Mrs. Georgia K. Ladd has organized the past 3 “Summer Series’” camps at the Captain Salem Avery House and Museum in Shady Side, Maryland. She believes that summer activities for kids should be hands-on and active. “I like to incorporate activities into the camp that I don’t have time to do during the school year”, said Mrs. Ladd, who is a fourth-grade teacher in Anne Arundel County. Among her many achievements, she was named the Preserve America Gilder Lehrman Maryland History Teacher of the Year for 2009. More about Georgia.......
